The cultivation of olives has been dating since ancient times, in the broader northeastern Peloponnese and the islands of the Saronic Gulf. Indicative is the reference made by the ancient traveller Pausanias. Today the most important olive variety which is grown is “Kothreiki – Manaki”. This variety of olive oil is considered one of Greece’s best, in terms of colour and flavour characteristics. It is golden yellow, sweet, with no “spark” that burns the palate and can be consumed immediately after the extraction. Admittedly, this olive oil does not go unnoticed.
